The ICEA S 93-639 standard covers three types of XLPE insulated shielded power cables:
– Type MV-90: These are single-conductor cables with a metallic shield and a jacket. They are suitable for use in wet or dry locations, indoors or outdoors, aerially or in ducts. They can operate at temperatures up to 90°C in normal conditions and up to 130°C in emergency conditions.
– Type MV-105: These are similar to Type MV-90 cables but can operate at higher temperatures up to 105°C in normal conditions and up to 140°C in emergency conditions.
– Type MV-R: These are single-conductor cables with a metallic shield and a jacket that contains an optical fiber for temperature monitoring. They can operate at temperatures up to 105°C in normal conditions and up to 140°C in emergency conditions.
The ICEA S 93-639 standard specifies the construction details, dimensions, electrical properties, mechanical properties and thermal properties of these cables. It also provides test methods for verifying the compliance of these cables with the specified requirements.
